Spend a different weekend in the best hiking trails on the Costa Blanca.

Without a doubt, the Costa Blanca is known mainly for its unbeatable beaches, which extend along the entire province of Alicante. But we can’t forget the great ecosystem that this region has, with a changing landscape, that alternates between large cliffs, mountains and even lagoons. That’s because we want to show you these unique Costa Blanca trails.

The five routes that are shown below are located in the best natural environments, and most of them, are suitable for the whole family, so it is a fantastic way to enjoy the beauty of this region.

#1. Font Roja route

Located in Alcoy, the Natural Park of el Carrascal de la Font Roja is a unique natural environment, combining a great diversity of species of fauna and flora of the Iberian Peninsula. It is one of the most extensive natural areas in Alicante province. It has several hiking trails, that start from the Font Roja Sanctuary, which has become a visitor center with a wide variety of information about the entire natural environment.

The available routes are marked and can be chosen according to the desired difficulty and duration.

#2. Sierra Helada route

The Sierra Helada Natural Park is located on the coast, between Benidorm and l’Albir. It is a mountainous complex formed by a large relief that gives rise to large cliffs over 300 meters high. One of the most popular routes is the one that ends at the lighthouse of l’Albir, located at one end of the mountain. With a length of about 2.5 kilometers, this route is ideal for the whole family, due to its low difficulty. Along the way, you can enjoy excellent views of the entire bay of Altea.

#3. Sierra de Bernia Route. One of the best Costa Blanca trails.

From Sierra Helada, we move to the other end of the bay of Altea, to the Sierra de Bernia, a mountain range of 11 kilometers that extends perpendicular to the Mediterranean Sea. This is a mountainous route, of medium difficulty, that has a pleasant reward for those who reach the top: its impressive views of the bay of Altea and Benidorm. It is one of the most complete hiking trails that can be done on the Costa Blanca, where in addition to nature, we can visit the ruins of the Fort of Bernia, totally recommended.

#4. Guadalest’s swamp route

Inside the Alicante province, we can find the town of Guadalest. This town is known, in addition to its beauty, for having a large number of museums of all kinds, which will attract the attention of the most curious people. Built in a valley, this town has an imposing swamp, located in its center. In it, we can find a hiking trail that borders the entire swamp, which extends about 10 kilometers. Despite the extension, this route is quite easy and is recommended for the whole family.

#5. Benitatxell cliffs route

We finish the post with one of the most beautiful coastal locations on the entire Costa Blanca, the cliffs of Benitatxell. Located between Calpe and Denia, this natural space is famous for housing crystal clear coves. The hiking route we propose ends at Moraig beach and lasts approximately one and a half hours, with a low difficulty, excellent for the whole family.
